What are the weekly working hours in Turkey? What are the conditions of overtime?

The working hours are generally 45 hours per week in Turkey.

Unless otherwise agreed, the extra hours are applied by being divided equally to working days.

In the case where it is agreed by the parties, the weekly working hours may be divided between the workdays without exceeding 11 hours.

Employees may overwork for the benefit of the country or to increase the quality of work or production.

Overtime is working for more than 45 hours weekly within the framework of conditions in Law.

For each extra hour the hourly fee increases by 50%.

In the cases where the weekly working hours are agreed as less than 45 hours in contracts, the extra work that exceeds the average weekly working hours reaching 45 hours are regarded as overtime.

For each extra hour the hourly fee increases by 25%.

Overtime cannot exceed 270 hours yearly.

Instead of an increase in pay, the employee who worked extra may choose to have 1.5 hours or 1 hour and 15 minutes off for each extra hours.
