Tourism Statistics, Quarter III: July-September, 2019, in Turkey
Tourism income increased by 22%
In the third quarter which is July, August and September months of 2019 tourism income increased by 22% and reached to $ 14 billion 31 million 122 thousand. While 82.1% of this income (excluding GSM roaming and marina service expenditures) was obtained from foreign visitors, 17.9% was obtained from citizens resident abroad.
Visitors organise their travel individually or with package tour. While individual expenditures constituted $ 9 billion 887 million 256 thousand of the total tourism income, $ 4 billion 143 million 866 thousand of tourism income was obtained by package tour expenditures.
Average expenditure of the visitors was $ 649 per capita
In this quarter while average expenditure of the foreigners was $ 623 per capita, average expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident abroad was $ 789 per capita.
Number of departing visitors increased by 15%
In this quarter number of departing visitors increased by 15% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 21 million 611 thousand 964 persons. While 85.3% of visitors was foreign with 18 million 438 thousand 139 persons, 14.7% of them was Turkish citizens resident abroad with 3 million 173 thousand 825 persons.
Tourism expenditure increased by 1.8%
Tourism expenditure which is the expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident in Turkey and visited abroad, increased by 1.8% compared to the same quarter of previous year and reached to $ 1 billion 230 million 964 thousand. While $ 892 million 899 thousand of total expenditures were individual expenditures, $ 338 million 65 thousand of tourism expenditures were package tour expenditures.
Number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 30.2%
In this quarter number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 30.2% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 2 million 949 thousand 118 persons. Average expenditure was $ 417 per capita.
