World’s most expensive cities – 2019

Economist Intelligence Unit published its 2019 report of the world’s most expensive cities.

The report has been published for 30 years, examining 133 cities.

Singapore, Hong Kong, and Paris shared the first spot while Geneva and Osaka shared the fifth.

Seoul and Copenhagen shared the seventh, while Tel Aviv and Los Angeles shared the tenth spot.

The 10 most expensive cities in the world:

Singapore
Paris
Hong Kong
Zurich
Geneva
Osaka
Seoul
Copenhagen
New York
Tel Aviv
Los Angeles

Caracas in Venezuela was ranked as the world’s least expensive city as inflation neared as 1,000,000% in the country.

Damascus in Syria ranked as the second least expensive city in the world.

Business valuation consultancy company Brand Finance announced the world’s most valuable banking brands of 2019.

Chinese bank ICBC stays at the top with an increase of 35% in value, a total of $79.8 billion dollars.

The 9 Turkish Banks in top 500 fell back compared to the previous year.

Turkish bank Ziraat increased its brand value by 14%, making it 1.6 billion dollars and taking the 146th place.

Top 10 banks in the world are as follows;

5) Wells Fargo – U.S

Global education foundation Varkey announced the most respected professions of the world for 2019, following a survey conducted in 35 countries.

1000 participants from the public were asked to mark the professions from 1 to 14.

The results showed that doctors have the most respected job.

World’s largest retailers

Audit and Consulting company Deloitte has announced its 21st Global Powers of Retailing report.

250 retail companies have made $4,53 trillion in the fiscal year of 2017, indicating a compound growth rate of 5,7%.

Companies individually made approximately $18,1 billion annually.

The report shows that U.S based Wal-Mart is the world’s largest retailer.

3 Turkish companies are also included in the list.

BIM Birlesik Magazalar A.S is the 150th largest retailer with a revenue of $6,8 billion, scaling up from $6,6 billion.

Migros Ticaret A.S became the 225th largest retailer with a revenue of $4,2 billion, $0,6 billion more than last year.

A101 Yeni Magazacılık A.S also entered the list from the 237th place with a revenue of $3,8 billion.
