17 million 299 thousand residents had domestic trips

In the third quarter; which is July, August and September months of 2020, 17 million 299 thousand residents had domestic trips. Domestic trips with one or more than one overnights, decreased by 32.0% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and declined to 21 million 724 thousand trips. In this quarter, domestic visitors made 255 million 77 thousand overnights. Average number of overnights was 11.7.

Domestic visitors spent 18 billion 864 million 514 thousand TL

In this quarter, trip expenditures of domestic tourists decreased by 19.2% compared to same quarter of previous year and declined to 18 billion 864 million 514 thousand TL. In this quarter, while 92.2% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 17 billion 391 million 223 thousand TL, 7.8% of it was package tour expenditures with 1 billion 473 million 291 thousand TL. Average expenditure per trip was 868 TL.

In this quarter, according to rate of change of trip expenditures compared to same quarter of the previous year, the highest decreases were package tour expenditures with 39.4%, trip expenditures made before trip with 33.7% and clothing and giftware expenditures with 31.4% respectively.

In this quarter, according to number of overnights by type of accommodation, domestic visitors stayed mostly at “house of friend or relative” with 150 million 856 thousand overnights. While “own house” took second place with 75 million 760 thousand overnights, “hotel” took third place with 12 million 781 thousand overnights.

In the second quarter; which is April, May and June months of 2020, 5 million 334 thousand residents had domestic trips. Domestic trips with one or more than one overnights, decreased by 69.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and declined to 5 million 976 thousand trips. In this quarter, domestic visitors made 76 million 10 thousand overnights. Average number of overnights was 12.7.

In this quarter, trip expenditures of domestic tourists decreased by 67.1% compared to same quarter of previous year and declined to 3 billion 536 million 968 thousand TL. In this quarter, while 98.0% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 3 billion 465 million 400 thousand TL, 2.0% of it was package tour expenditures with 71 million 568 thousand TL. Average expenditure per trip was 592 TL.

In the third quarter; which is July, August and September months of 2019, 24 million 264 thousand residents had domestic trips. Domestic trips with one or more than one overnights, decreased by 1.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and declined to 31 million 939 thousand trips. In this quarter, domestic visitors made 309 million 342 thousand overnights. Average number of overnights was 9.7.

In this quarter, trip expenditures of domestic tourists increased by 10.4% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 23 billion 344 million 390 thousand TL. In this quarter, while 89.6% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 20 billion 911 million 667 thousand TL, 10.4% of it was package tour expenditures with 2 billion 432 million 723 thousand TL. Average expenditure per trip was 731 TL.

15 million 697 thousand residents had domestic trips

In the second quarter; which is April, May and June months of 2019, 15 million 697 thousand residents had domestic trips. Domestic trips with one or more than one overnights, increased by 2.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and reached to 19 million 324 thousand trips.

Domestic visitors spent 556 TL on average

In this quarter, domestic visitors made 129 million 254 thousand overnights. While average number of overnights was 6.7, average expenditure per trip was 556 TL.

Domestic visitors spent 10 billion 744 million 960 thousand TL

In this quarter, trip expenditures of domestic tourists increased by 45.8% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 10 billion 744 million 960 thousand TL.

Domestic tourism expenditures were composed of individual expenditures and package tour expenditures. In this quarter, while 92.7% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 9 billion 962 million 995 thousand TL, 7.3% of it was package tour expenditures with 781 million 965 thousand TL.

In this quarter, according to number of overnights by type of accommodation, domestic visitors stayed mostly at “house of friend and relative” with 95 million 253 thousand overnights. In the fourth quarter; which is October, November and December months of 2016, 8 million 467 thousand residents had domestic trips. Domestic trips with one or more than one overnights, decreased by 5.3% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and declined to 10 million 688 thousand trips.

Annually, domestic trips decreased by 3.9% compared to the previous year and declined to 68 million 450 thousand.

Domestic visitors spent 371 TL on average
In this quarter, domestic visitors made 74 million 786 thousand overnights. While average number of overnights was 7, average expenditure per trip was 371 TL.

In this year, total number of overnights increased by 2.9% compared to the previous year and reached to 605 million 608 thousand. While average number of overnights was 8.8, average expenditure per trip was 410 TL in 2016.

In this quarter, trip expenditures of domestic tourists increased by 1.5% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 3 billion 968 million 113 thousand TL.

In this year, trip expenditures of domestic tourists increased by 14.8% compared to the previous year and reached to 28 billion 33 million 83 thousand TL.

Domestic tourism expenditures were composed of individual expenditures and package tour expenditures. In this quarter, while 95.9% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 3 billion 807 million 2 thousand TL, 4.1% of it was package tour expenditures with 161 million 111 thousand TL.

Annually, while 91.1% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 25 billion 542 million 766 thousand TL, 8.9% of it was package tour expenditures with 2 billion 490 million 316 thousand TL.

Primary purpose of trip was “visiting relatives” with 72.2%
The secondary purpose of trip was “health” with 9.1% and the third was “travel, leisure, holiday” with 8.1%.

Annually, while “visiting relatives” was the primary purpose of trip with 65.9%, secondary purpose of trip was “travel, leisure, holiday” with 21.5% and the third was “health” with 6.3%.
