Construction cost index increased monthly by 0.91%

In February 2019, construction cost index (CCI) increased by 0.91% compared with previous month and increased by 27.22% compared with the same month of the previous year. Material index increased by 1.24% and labour index increased by 0.23% compared with the previous month. Also, material index increased by 27.49% and labour index increased by 26.66% compared with the previous year.

Building construction cost index increased monthly by 0.77%

Building construction cost index increased by 0.77% compared with previous month and increased by 27.44% compared with the same month of the previous year. Material index increased by 1.04% and labour index increased by 0.21% compared with the previous month. Also material index increased by 27.67% and labour index increased by 26.95% compared with the previous year.

Construction cost index for civil engineering increased monthly by 1.41%

Construction cost index for civil engineering increased 1.41% compared with previous month and increased by 26.52% compared with the same month of the previous year. Material index increased by 1.88% and labour index increased by 0.30% compared with the previous month. Also material index increased by 26.91% and labour index increased by 25.60% compared with the previous year.

An analysis has been made by National Institute of Economic and Social Research.

It suggested that by 2030, Britain would lose GDP growth equivalent to the annual economic output of Wales.

The study found GDP over the long term was forecast to be about 4% less than it would have been had the UK stayed in the EU.

National Institute of Economic and Social Research  said the cost to the economy of Brexit would be the equivalent of losing about £1,000 a year for every person in the UK.

The director of macroeconomic modelling and forecasting at the institution Garry Young said: “Leaving the EU will make it more costly for the UK to trade with a large market on our doorstep and inevitably will have economic costs.”
