Retail Sales Indices of Turkey, March 2017

Retail sales volume increased by 2.1% compared with the previous month
Seasonal and calendar adjusted retail sales volume increased by 2.1% with constant prices in March 2017 compared with the previous month. In the same month non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 3.6%, automotive fuel sales increased by 2.7%, food, drinks and tobacco sales decreased by 1.2%.

Considering the details of the non-food sectors computers, books, telecommunications equipment sales increased by 1.1%, electronic goods and furniture sales increased by 5.3%, textiles, clothing and footwear sales increased by 4.6%, medical goods and cosmetic sales increased by 2.8%, sales via mail orders and internet increased by 2.4% compared with the previous month.

Retail sales volume decreased by 0.4% compared with the same month of previous year
Calendar adjusted retail sales volume with constant prices decreased by 0.4% in March 2017 compared with the same month of previous year. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales decreased by 4.1%, automotive fuel sales decreased by 4.4%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 3.7%.

Considering the details of the non-food sectors computers, books, telecommunications equipment sales increased by 5.4%, textiles, clothing and footwear sales increased by 11.5%, sales via mail orders and internet increased by 26.5%, electronic goods and furniture sales decreased by 4.6%, medical goods and cosmetic sales decreased by 2.9% compared with the same month of previous year.

Retail turnover increased by 2% compared with the previous month
Seasonal and calendar adjusted retail turnover with current prices increased by 2% in March 2017 compared with the previous month. In the same month non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 4.4%, automotive fuel sales remain stable, food, drinks and tobacco sales decreased by 0.2%.

Retail turnover increased by 13.9% compared with the same month of previous year
Calendar adjusted retail turnover with current prices increased by 13.9% in March 2017 compared with the same month of previous year. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales increased by 8.7%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 14.3%, automotive fuel sales increased by 21.7%.

Retail sales volume increased by 0.7% compared with the previous quarter
Seasonal and calendar adjusted retail sales volume with constant prices increased by 0.7% compared with the previous quarter in the first quarter of 2017. Calendar adjusted retail sales volume decreased by 2.2% compared with the same quarter of the previous year.

Retail turnover increased by 5.3% compared with the previous quarter
Seasonal and calendar adjusted retail turnover with current prices increased by 5.3% compared with the previous quarter in the first quarter of 2017. Calendar adjusted retail turnover increased by 11.7% compared with the same quarter of the previous year.
