EXPLANATIONS
Compilation and Calculation Methods of Crop Production Prices
Prices received by farmers are wholesale or retail unit prices of products which are produced or grown and directly sold by farmers. Prices are compiled according to production period. Additionally, the production value is obtained by multiplying production quantity and related unit price.

Crop product prices are compiled monthly in collaboration with the province and district office of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock via internet. Sugar beet prices are received from Turkish Sugar Authority, green tea prices are from General Directorate of Tea Companies, poppy capsule and seed prices are from Turkish Grain Board and tobacco prices are from Tobacco and Alcohol Market Regulatory Institution. Also, prices are compiled from the commodity exchange and producers unions’.

In order to calculate province prices of crop products, the retail and wholesale prices which are compiled from districts of related province are multiplied by retail and wholesale weights calculated before and the prices are determined for each district. Subsequently, by using crop production statistics, for each product after calculating district and province weights- weighted province prices are calculated by multiplying district weights and district prices. In the same way, the price for Turkey is calculated by multiplying province prices and weights. For any product, if there is not any price information at province level, the province is ignored for related month and others are re-weighted.

Note: From statistical tables; “Vegetables – 2015 Marketed value” takes place in the table named “Crop production values in terms of main and subgroups and changes in ratios” and “Vegetables – 2015 Marketed value” and “2015 Total marketed value” data takes place in the table named “Values of crop and animal production” are corrected.
