The number of opera and ballet audiences was 293 thousand 2 in the 2017-2018 season, with an increase by 4.2% compared to the 2016-2017 season. The number of shows performed in opera and ballet halls increased by 2% to 202 in the 2017-2018 season compared to 2016-2017 season.

During the 2017-2018 season, the number of performances in opera and ballet halls was 648 with a decrease by 5.3% compared to the 2016-2017 season.
Number of audiences in orchestra, choir and groups decreased by 16.3%
The number of audiences in orchestra, choir and groups was 343 thousand 979 in the 2017-2018 season, with a decrease of 16.3% compared to 2016-2017 season. The number of orchestra audiences increased by 27.8% to 175 thousand 621 compared to last season, while the number of chorus audiences decreased by 4.3% to 59 thousand 170 and the number of groups’ audiences decreased by 48.4% to 109 thousand 188.
Number of orchestra performances increased by 14.9%
The number of shows performed by orchestras increased by 14.9% in the 2017-2018 season compared to the 2016-2017 season and became 224, while the number of shows performed by chorus decreased by 7.8% to 165 and the number of shows performed by groups decreased by 18.2% to 157.
Number of orchestra audiences increased by 108.4% in İzmir
The number of orchestra audiences increased by 108.4% in İzmir during the 2017-2018 season, while it decreased by 17.5% in Antalya.
Number of choir performances decreased by 7.8%
During the 2017-2018 season, the number of choir performances was 165 with a decrease by 7.8% compared to 2016-2017 season.
Choir audiences increased 123% in Diyarbakır and decreased 83.8% in İzmir
The number of chorus audiences increased by 123% in Diyarbakır, 37.5% in Sivas and 28% in Elazığ among the 10 provinces where choir performances were made in 2017-2018 season. İzmir with 83.8%, İstanbul with 27.2% and Ankara with 10.9% were the provinces with the greatest decrease in number of audiences in the same period.
Number of shows performed by groups decreased by 18.2%
The number of shows performed by groups was 157 in the 2017-2018 season with an increase of 18.2% compared to the 2016-2017 season.
Number of groups’ audiences decreased by 58% in İstanbul
The number of groups’ audiences was decreased in 3 provinces where the group shows were performed in the 2017-2018. The number of groups’ audiences was increased 7.6% in İzmir and 4.9% in Edırne. The number of audiences was decreased by 58% in İstanbul, 49.2% in Ankara and 47.5% in Konya.

Rate of the female personnel was 43.8% in operas and ballets
The number of staff working at the opera and ballets during the 2017-2018 season decreased by 0.3% compared to the 2016-2017 season. In 2017-2018 season, 2 thousand 491 personnel including guest performers served in opera and ballets affiliated to the General Directorate of Opera and Ballet. The 43.8% of this number was female personnel.
In orchestras, choirs and groups, 1 372 performer staff served
In the orchestras, choirs and groups affiliated to the General Directorate of Fine Arts, a total of 1 372 performer staff took part in the 2017-2018 season. The 348 of this staff were in orchestras, 636 were in choirs and 388 were in groups. The 42% of the performers serving in orchestras, 38.2% of the performers serving in choirs and 26.5% of the performers working in groups were female.
