Juveniles Received into Security Unit, 2017

The number of juveniles received into security unit was 335 thousand 242 in 2017 with an increase by 0.5% as compared to 2016. The 57.7% of these children were in the 15-17 age group and 23.3% were in the 12-14 age group, while 18.5% of children were under the age of 11. In 2017, 66.1% of juveniles received into security unit were male, while 33.9% were female.

Mostly juvenile victims were received into security unitIn 2017, 46.2% of juveniles were victims, 32.2% of juveniles were committed an offence, 13.7% of juveniles were witnesses, 3.4% of juveniles were lost (found) and 4.4% of juveniles were received by other reasons of 335 thousand 242 juveniles received into security unit.

Most juveniles pushed into crime were involved in assault

The 34.4% of 107 thousand 984 juveniles received into security unit due to offence were accused of assault. Subsequently, 24.8% of these juveniles were charged with theft, 6.6% of juveniles were charged with the opposition to the Passport Law, 6.2% of juveniles were charged with using, selling and purchasing of drugs, 3.9% of juveniles were charged with damage to property.

The 66 thousand 321 juveniles were sent to judicial organs

For juveniles received into security unit; 68.5% of juveniles were handed over to their families, 19.8% of juveniles were sent to judicial organs. The 3.4% of juveniles were handed over to social institutions. However, for juveniles received into security unit due to offence; 57.6% of juveniles were sent to judicial organs while 36% of juveniles were handed over to their families. For juveniles received into security unit by reason of being victim; 87.3% of juveniles were handed over to their families, 3.5% of juveniles were handed over to health institutions and 3.1% of juveniles were handed over to social institutions.

The 33.3% of juveniles who committed an offence used addictive drug

Among 107 thousand 984 juveniles received into security unit due to commitment of an offence, 35 thousand 986 juveniles used addictive drug. Among juveniles using addictive drug; 85.6% of children were in the 15-17 age group, 14% of children were in the 12-14 age group. It was observed that 84% of children smoked cigarette, 6.3% of children used alcohol, 5.4% of children used cannabis, 1.2% of children used drugs.

Most of juveniles were received into security unit were victims of crime

In total of 155 thousand 24 juveniles received as victims into security unit, 88.7% of juveniles were victims of crime and 11.2% of juveniles were victims of followed incident. It was observed that 54.4% of juvenile victims of crime were male and 45.6% of them were female, 53.1% of juvenile victims of followed incident were male and 46.9% of them were female and 41.3% of juvenile victims of misdemeanour were male and 58.7% of them were female.

Juvenile victims of crime were mostly victims of an assault 

The 59.1% of 137 thousand 482 juvenile victims of crime were victims of an assault, 13.5% of them were victims of sexual offences and 6.8% of them were victims of offences against family order. Furthermore, 3.8% of them were victims of threat, 3.7% of them were victims of theft and 3.1% of them were victims of kidnapping.
