The overall export unit value index increased by 0.6%
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index increased by 0.6% in January. In the same month, compared to January 2016, while the index for “food, beverages and tobacco” and  “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” decreased by 9% and  0.7%, respectively, the index for  “crude materials (except fuels)” and “fuels” increased by 7.6% and 46%, respectively.

The overall import unit value index increased by 6.3%
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index increased by 6.3% in January. While the index for “food, beverages and tobacco” decreased by 4.8%, the index for “crude materials (except fuels)”, “fuels” and  “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” increased by 10.2%, 22.8% and 1.4%, respectively.

The overall export volume index increased by 17.3%
The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 17.3% in January. Compared with January 2016, the index for “food, beverages and tobacco” , “crude materials (except fuels)”, “fuels” and “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)”  increased by 24.2%, 29.9%, 19.5% and 12.6%, respectively.

The overall import volume index increased by 9%
In January, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 9%. The index for “food, beverages and tobacco”, “crude materials (except fuels)”, “fuels” and “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” increased by 16.2%, 13.3%, 15.9% and 4.6%, respectively.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 3%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 140.8 in December 2016, increased by 3%, to 145.1 in January 2017. The calendar adjusted export volume index which was 110.6 in January 2016, increased by 17.3%, to 129.6 in January 2017.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index decreased by 3%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 133.6 in December 2016, decreased by 3%, to 129.6 in January 2017. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 111.5 in January 2016, increased by 4%, to 116 in January 2017.

Terms of trade was 107.8 in January 2017
Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade were 113.9 in January 2016, it decreased by 6.1 points to 107.8 in January 2017.
