In Turkey, number of deaths was 425 thousand 781 in 2017
While the number of deaths was 422 thousand 726 according to the revised 2016 data, it was 425 thousand 781 persons in 2017 by increasing 0.7%. 54.7% of deceased persons were males and 45.3% of deceased persons were females.
Crude death rate was 5.3 per thousand
Crude death rate which is the number of deaths per thousand persons was 5.3 per thousand in 2017 with no change compared to the previous year.
Infant mortality rate was 9.2 per thousand
While the number of infant deaths was 13 thousand 6 in 2016, it was 11 thousand 849 in 2017. While infant mortality rate which is the number of infant deaths per thousand live births was 9.9 per thousand in 2016, it was 9.2 per thousand in 2017.
The highest infant mortality rate was in Kilis with 17.2 per thousand
When the infant mortality rate was examined by provinces, the province having the highest infant mortality rate was Kilis with 17.2 per thousand in 2017. Kilis was followed by Hakkari with 16.7 per thousand, Muş with 14.9 per thousand and Şanlıurfa with 14.4 per thousand. The province having the lowest infant mortality rate was Çankırı with 4.6 per thousand. Çankırı was followed by Eskişehir and Karabük with 5.2 per thousand, and Amasya with 5.3 per thousand.

While the proportion of infants dying before completing their first month was 64.7% in 2016, this proportion was 64.4% in 2017. It was seen that infants died in the first day with 13.2%, 1-6 days old with 29.6% and 7-29 days old with 21.6% in 2017. The proportion of infant deaths of 1-4 months old was 23.3% as well.

Under-five mortality rate was 11.2 per thousand
Under-five mortality rate was 11.2 per thousand
While the under-five mortality rate which is the probability of dying during five years after birth was 12.1 per thousand in 2016, it was 11.2 per thousand in 2017.
The number of suicides resulting in death decreased by 3.9% in 2017
While the number of suicides resulting in death was 3 thousand 193 in 2016, it was 3 thousand 69 in 2017 by decreasing 3.9%. 77.2% of people who committed suicide were males and 22.8% of them were females.
The crude suicide rate was decreased
While the crude suicide rate which is the number of suicides per hundred thousand population was 4.03 per hundred thousand in 2016, this rate decreased to 3.82 per hundred thousand in 2017. It means that in 2017 approximately four out of every one hundred thousand people committed suicide.
