Crop Production 1st Estimation, 2019

In the first estimation of 2019, production quantities of cereals and other crops, vegetables and fruits, beverage and spices crops will increase by 5.4%, 2.7% and 5.8% respectively when compared with the previous year. Production quantities of cereals and other crops, vegetables and fruits in 2019 were predicted approximately as follows; 67.9 million tonnes for cereals and other crops, 30.8 million tonnes for vegetables, and 23.6 million tonnes for fruits, beverage and spices crops.

It was estimated that cereals production will increase in 2019 when compared with the previous year

It was estimated that in 2019 cereals production will increase with a rate of 1.1% when compared with the previous year and approximately become 34.8 million tonnes.

It was estimated that wheat production will decrease by 2.5% to become 19.5 million tonnes, barley production will increase by 7.1% and become 7.5 million tonnes, rye production will not change and remain as 320 thousand tonnes, oats production will increase by 1.9% and become 265 thousand tonnes, when compared with the previous year.

In the pulses group, it was expected that a increase will occur in broad beans to consume by 1.6% and production approximately become 6 thousand tonnes, red lentil will increase by 22.6% and become 380 thousand tonnes and potatoes, one of tuber crops, will increase by 9.9% and become 5 million tonnes.

In the group of oil seeds, it was expected that soybean production will increase by 14.3% and become 160 thousand tonnes.

It was estimated that tobacco production will decrease by 12.7% and become 70 thousand tonnes while sugar beets production will increase by 11.4% and approximately become 21 million tonnes.

It was estimated that vegetables production will increase in 2019 compared with the previous year

It was estimated that in 2019, vegetables production will increase with a rate of 2.7% when compared with the previous year and approximately become 30.8 million tonnes.

When examining production of subgroups of vegetables, root and tuberous vegetables production is expected to increase by 14.1%, production of vegetables cultivated for their fruits is expected to increase by 1% and other vegetables not elsewhere classified are expected to increase with the rate of 3.6%.

The production of some important crops in vegetables; increments are expected in tomatoes production by 2.9%, in dry onion by 23.8%, in cucumber by 2% while decrements are expected as 3.4% in watermelon, 1.4% in green pepper, 3.3% in eggplant.

It was estimated that fruits production will increase in 2019 when compared with the previous year

It was estimated that fruits, beverage and spices crops production will be 23.6 million tonnes in 2019 increasing by 5.8% when compared with the previous year.

When examining productions of some important fruits, it was estimated that there will be increments in apple production by 6.8%, in peaches production by 5.5%, in cherries production by 6%, in strawberries production by 4.3% while there will be decrement in loquats production by 8.2% when compared with the previous year.

In the citrus group, an increase is expected in mandarin production by 6.1%. From nuts, pistachios  production is expected to decrease by 58.3%.

It was estimated that figs production will increase by 7.3% and bananas production will increase by 18.1%.
