Electricity and Natural Gas Prices, Period I: January-June, 2019, in Turkey

Household consumers paid on average 53.8 kurus per kWh electricityIn the first period⁽¹⁾ of 2019, for the smallest consumption band⁽²⁾ which is below 1 000 kWh, household consumers paid on average 53.8 kurus per kWh electricity while 53.3 kurus was paid on average for the largest consumption band which is 15 000 kWh and above.

Industrial consumers paid on average 48.1 kurus per kWh electricity

For the industrial consumers, in the first period of 2019, in the smallest consumption band which is below 20 MWh⁽³⁾ , industrial consumers paid on average 59 kurus per kWh whereas they paid on average 43.1 kurus per kWh electricity for the largest consumption band which is above 150 000 MWh.

Household consumers paid on average 135.6 kurus per m³ natural gas

Household consumers paid 136.8 kurus for the smallest consumption band which is below 522 m³ and 135.4 kurus for the largest consumption band which is 5 219 m³ and above per m³ natural gas in the first period of 2019. In the consumption band between 522 and 5 219 m³ , household consumers paid 134.7 kurus in the same period.

Industrial consumers paid on average 167 kurus per m³ natural gas

In the first period of 2019, for the smallest consumption band which is below 26 094 m³ , industry consumers paid on average 136.1 kurus per m³ natural gas while 168.6 kurus was paid on average for the largest consumption band which is above 104 376 000 m³ .

EXPLANATIONS

Within the context of the European Union (EU) harmonization process, data on the end-user average unit price for electricity and natural gas is compiled in compliance with consumption bands specified in the relevant EU regulation through semi-annual questionnaires applied to representatives of the electricity and natural gas suppliers. The unit prices are weighted by the amount of final consumption of household and industrial consumers in calculations.

(2) Consumption bands (T) are standard consumption intervals which are used in the computation of electricity and natural gas prices across the  European Union.
