Labour Force Statistics in Türkiye, January 2023
Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 9.7%
According to Household Labour Force Survey; the number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over decreased by 166 thousand to 3 million 424 thousand persons in January 2023 compared to the previous month. As the unemployment rate estimated 9.7% with 0.5 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month; it was estimated 7.7% for men and 13.7% for women.
Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 48.9%
The number of employed persons increased by 354 thousand to 31 million 837 thousand persons in January 2023 compared to the previous month. The employment rate occurred as 48.9% with 0.5 percentage point increase. In addition, this rate was 66.9% for men, 31.2% for women.
Seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate realized as 54.1%
The number of persons in the labour force realized as 35 million 260 thousand persons with 188 thousand persons increase in January 2023 compared to the previous month. Labour force participation rate was 54.1% with 0.2 percentage point increase. Also this rate was 72.5% for men, it was 36.1% for women.
Seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 20.2%
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 20.2% with 0.5 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While this rate was estimated 16.5% for men and 26.6% for women.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours of persons at work during the reference period estimated 44.9 hours with 0.7 hours increase compared to the previous month in January 2023.

Seasonally adjusted composite measure of labour underutilization rate realized as 21.9%
In January 2023, the rate of composite measure of labour underutilization consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labour force and unemployment was 21.9% with 0.6 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment realized as 15.3%, combined rate of unemployment and potential labour force estimated as 16.7%.
