The U.S. current-account deficit decreased $112.4 billion (3,1 percent decrease) in the fourth quarter of 2016 from $116.0 billion (revised from 113 billion) in the third quarter of 2016, according to statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The deficit decreased to 2.4 percent of current-dollar gross domestic product (GDP) from 2.5 percent in the third quarter. The current-account deficit increased to $481.2 billion (3,9 percent increase) in 2016. The deficit was 2.6 percent of current-dollar GDP in 2016, the same percentage as in 2015. (21.03.2017)
